Biography
Branson Wright has been a sportswriter with The Plain Dealer for 20 years. He was the beat writer of the Cavaliers, a member of the Browns coverage team, and now a multi-media sports reporter for the newspaper. Branson is an award-winning journalist who has won several state and national awards for his reporting. His work has been published in several national publications including ESPN’s The Undefeated. Branson has also been a guest on CNN, ESPN, and NPR.
As a filmmaker, Branson is producer of HBO documentary Women of Troy and co-producer of “Believeland” a 30-for-30 feature shown on ESPN. He is also the producer and director of “Pass Interference” a documentary on former NFL wide receiver Davone Bess.
The Blur is Branson’s first film. It’s a documentary on Dwight Anderson - the rise, fall and rise again of the greatest basketball player many of you have never heard of.
In 2022, he Executive Produced the Fox Sports\Bally’s Documentary, King of The Block. King of The Block depicts the 50-plus-year rivalry between Princeton and Moeller. For many years, Moeller prevented Princeton from competing for a state championship and sometimes even a national one. A rivalry was forged between the private school and the public school that still exist to this day. Featuring interviews with ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit, former Ohio State National Championship Coach Jim Tressel, Baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin, National Championship Coach Gerry Faust, and the Legend Pete Rose. King of The Block looks back at those fierce games and the lasting friendship of two rivals, former NFLer Arnold Hines and Cliff “CA” Brooks, and how the Princeton versus Moeller rivalry forever changed their lives.
