GCUFF: Road to Netflix Masterclass Color Grading for Filmmakers in Davinci Resolve

In this GCUFF masterclass, you are invited into this unique color suite to watch how a professional Director, Finisher, and Colorist create great-looking images and discuss color management workflow, techniques, creativity, grading, and strategies that will help you become a better filmmaker.

In this Road to Netflix training series, you will learn to work with both display-referred and scene-referred management including ACES, setting up SDR and HDR projects, using DaVinci Wide Gamut, matching camera profiles with color space transforms, workflows for Color Correction, and introduction to Color Grading for filmmakers migrating from Final Cut or Premiere Pro.

This live course is about the art and craft of color grading in Davinci Resolve and enhancing the attendee’s comfort level in maximizing this tool for their projects.

There are (2) two free workshops! September 15 (starting at 6:30 PM) and September 17 (starting at 1 PM for 2 hours). We’ll be grading on the movie screen (in DCI P3), at Atlas Cinema Shaker Square 6.

About The Instructors?

JEM, Post God

Joddy Eric Matthews is a world-renowned Clio and Emmy award-winning Post God, combining a 30-year career of directing, cinematography, visual effects work, and editing with exceptional colorist and finishing skills. Armed with certifications from Adobe, Unreal, Nuke, Nuendo, Maya, Speedtree, Blackmagic, and RED, Joddy has taught post-production workflows at the University and Enterprise levels.

The Atlanta native’s credits include directing the smash Fox/Bally Sports doc, King of The Block, along with spots for Altria, Dow Chemical, USVision, JC Penney Optical, Phillip Morris, Vodaphone, General Motors, and Sherwin Williams to name a few. He also serves as a Post Production Producer for many Caribbean and African film productions, specializing in Netflix delivery standards.

Jason Feiler, Professional Colorist

Jason Feiler is an Ohio-based colorist who started his career at The Pabst Photo Group in Cleveland. At Pabst, he garnered huge accolades such as the Admerica Silver Award at the AAF National Conference, multiple Addy Awards, (3) Three Bronze and (1) One Silver, and several Guru Awards.

Since launching Jason Feiler Studios, Jason has color-graded and served as Senior Editor/Colorist on numerous feature films such as the Shawn Reich-directed Mr. Football, produced by Transition Studios, and Volume 1 of Joddy Eric Matthews’ upcoming AppleTV civil rights series, Be: A Raised Fist Mixtape.

Jason recently completed the Master’s Program at the prestigious Colour Training Institute taught by legendary Hollywood Color Scientist, Dado Valentic.
